Story Fair: Walking Tour of Historic Payne Ave.

10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Arlington Hills Community Center

Event Details

Join labor historian Peter Rachleff for a walking tour of historic Payne Avenue! The tour will focus on the street’s role as a center of immigrant working-class life, from the Swedes, Italians, and Germans of the 19th century to the Hmong, Mexicans, and Salvadorans of the 21st century. The tour precedes the library's Story Fair celebration, kicking off several months of celebrations in honor of the centennial of Saint Paul's Carnegie library buildings, including the original Arlington Hills (now East Side Freedom Library).
